Hello! I’m Alli Johnston… I make things… and nature is my muse.
Some of the things I make are watercolour paintings. lino block prints and screen prints inspired by the nature of Newfoundland’s western and northeast coasts.
I’m a visual artist and graphic designer based in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. My home base is Corner Brook, but I spend summers painting and working off Newfoundland’s Northeast Coast on Fogo Island and Exploits Island.
My first visual art form was film photography and I began painting in 2006. I was drawn to the soft, transparent nature of watercolour as a medium. The colours, sounds and smells of nature inspire me, especially when I’m by the ocean and the fluidity and often-unexpected behaviour of watercolour paints lends itself perfectly to the depiction of these places.
