Lower Little Harbour trail is a 4.8 km trail in the community of Little Harbour, not far from Twillingate. This trail is rated as moderate and is a loop so it’s convenient to do as a solo hike or you can bring the family as it is also suitable for children and dogs.

I can’t recommend this trail enough and wholly believe it will exceed your expectations. The terrain of this trail is delightfully diverse. You’ll find yourself rambling up rocks, wandering through woods, crossing bogs, beaches, and trekking hills. Depending on the time of year, you may even see icebergs.

Along the trail are points of distinction such as the 30-foot rock arch, the large root cellar, and the resettled community. The views from this hike are just so impressive and as you stand atop the rugged cliffs and watch the waves kiss the coastline, you may feel overcome with awe – it’s natural.

Twillingate is mere minutes from Little Harbour and with plenty of opportunities for fun. For more adventure, book a sea kayaking tour with Rock Adventures. If you are feeling thirsty, have a locally crafted Split Rock Brewing Co. beer at Stage Head Pub, or stop in for a treat at the Crow’s Nest Café if you’re feeling hungry. Other points of interest would be the Long Point Lighthouse, Auk Island Winery, the multiple museums, and the other trails (Twillingate has 8 trails total).

As always, I recommend bringing plenty of water, snacks, and your camera.

Happy hiking!
